Backyard Pool Oasis

When an active, multigenerational family decides to add a swimming pool in their rear yard, there is an obvious need for an allied structure to support the fun. And this fun extends beyond the immediate family. In a densely populated suburb close to Boston, this oasis draws many friends outside of the family. And this site is snug. How snug? It is almost impossible to access the rear yard with heavy equipment. Despite these logistical challenges, we enjoyed collaborating with the client, landscape architect and skilled general contractor on this family entertainment area. The interior features a vaulted ceiling gathering space, galley kitchen and eating table all visually and functionally connected. Easy access to the pool deck is via plentiful sliding doors. An outdoor shower with changing space supplements the interior bathroom. Seasonal pool storage is directly off the swimming pool deck. And tucked behind this are the mechanical systems, neatly under cover and protected when the pool season is over. Summer arrives and no need to suffer through traffic to reach a beach; this swimming pool oasis is just steps from their home. Dial up the neighbors!
